Well, my dear Shauna – it’s after 1:30 a.m. on May 10th, so technically the day after Mother's Day. When I looked at your mom’s picture and read your words about her I thought . . . Cindy is probably still smiling a beautiful smile of angelic joy down at her daughter and her three "little ones”, so excited to celebrate you as a mother - - And then I thought, I bet she is laughing right now with her head thrown back as in her picture while she is remembering when once upon a time her three "little ones" couldn't wait to give her that very special Mother's Day gift that was made just for her. I also thought about this being your 7th Mother's Day and was reminded of Genesis 2:2, "By the seventh day God had finished the work he had been doing; so on the seventh day he rested from all his work." His creative work was completed - it was totally effective, absolutely perfect, "very good" (from NIV Notes, Ge 1:31). After I read these verses, and reread them, I thought, "Yes, on this, your 7th Mother's Day, God and your mother could rest because while some days you struggle – see, I do read “The Reed Life” a lot – just like we all did raising children, your mother with God’s help had equipped you with the heart and the spirit of motherhood in a way that each and every minute of the day surrounds Jake, Ty and Ella with an aura of your love that is so strong that one can almost reach out and touch its light. What a beautiful gift from your mom and our Creator . . . they both seemed to know just what you needed to make you the woman, wife and mother you are today - - and, together they are resting in that joy.
